I’m Yasmina Maher, a researcher and counselor in Islamic psychology.
My own journey toward inner peace involved a great deal of searching and stumbling. For some time, I followed paths that took me away from the deepest purpose of my life: drawing closer to Allah, Most High.
When I began studying Islamic psychology, what I learned changed Yasmina before it gave me the knowledge and tools to support anyone else.
Because I struggled along the way, I recognize a part of myself in every Muslim woman who feels as though she is fighting against herself instead of learning how to fight for herself.
I came to believe that understanding ourselves through the Quran and Sunnah, while drawing from the rich legacy of our scholars, can transform the way we see ourselves, our struggles, and our journey through life. After all, who knows the soul better than Allah, the One who created it?
That is how Sakeenah Life began: to help you understand yourself, face your struggles with compassion and awareness, and move one step at a time toward greater sakeenah, a heart closer to Allah, a good life in this world, and His pleasure in the next.
Before we begin, we’ll make sure that the support I offer is right for your needs. If you require medical care or someone with a different specialization, I will tell you honestly and help guide you toward more suitable support.
Our sessions are confidential, nonjudgmental, and guided by goals we agree on together. I will not promise quick results, make your decisions for you, or offer ready-made answers. I will offer honesty, respect for my professional limits, and a commitment to keep learning and support you without using an approach that conflicts with your values.
